The poem "The Fringed Gentian" appears as part of chapter five, "Fringed Gentian," of Tam! The Story of a Woman. Part of this poem appears in "Emily of New Moon" as an inspiration for Emily to become a writer. The title for L.M. Montgomery's biography, "The Alpine Path," also pulls inspiration from this poem.
